What is the ClearSkin laser?
ClearSkin is a non-ablative laser on the Alma Harmony XL Pro platform designed for acne-prone skin. The laser light passes through the skin's surface without causing damage and heats the sebaceous glands in a deeper layer. This reduces sebum secretion and inflammation, and the skin gradually regenerates. The laser head features contact cooling and vacuum, making the treatment well-tolerated even when the skin is inflamed and sensitive.
Following a series of treatments, new flare-ups occur less frequently, pores are less visible, and the skin is less oily. ClearSkin also softens shallow scars and darker marks left by acne. For deeper acne scars, a CO2 laser, subcision, and Morpheus8 are used, which we write more about on the page acne scars.
How ClearSkin works on acne
Why acne develops
Spots occur when sebum and dead skin cells become trapped in the hair follicle. The bacterium Cutibacterium acnes multiplies within the blocked follicle, leading to inflammation. This is how blackheads turn into red, painful, pus-filled spots. Spots occur during puberty, but are also common in adults. Read more about the causes and treatment on the page acne treatment.
How does the ClearSkin laser treat acne?
Laser energy targets the sebaceous glands and acne-associated bacteria, reduces inflammation and helps to normalise sebum production. At the same time, skin renewal is stimulated, which over time leads to a clearer and more even complexion.
Part of the Alma Harmony XL Pro platform
ClearSkin is one of the modules Alma Harmony XL Pro platform. On the same platform, we also work on ClearLift, Erbium (iPixel), DYE VL, and NIR, so ClearSkin can be easily combined with treatments for blemishes, redness, and skin texture. It is also part of 4D laser facial treatment.
Benefits of ClearSkin treatment
The treatment does not damage the skin's surface, so there is no peeling or recovery period. Thanks to cooling, anaesthesia is not required. It can be performed all year round, using a high factor sunscreen. The results are maintained with proper skin care and products recommended by a doctor.
ClearSkin treatment price
The price of the Clearskin treatment depends on the region being treated, as well as the number of treatments and any potential combination with other procedures. You can view the prices on the page Price list.
Have you got a question?
Answers to frequently asked questions
What does the ClearSkin treatment look like?
At our polyclinic, you can book an expert consultation and have examination, in order to determine the exact condition and for the doctor to become familiar with your skin. Afterwards, your treatment will be scheduled. ClearSkin Pro treatment requires no special preparation. The face is thoroughly cleaned of make-up and other impurities, and then the treatment is commenced.
The treatment lasts up to 45 minutes. You will feel a mild tingling sensation, and the cooling system will ensure the treatment is comfortable and relaxing.
What does the skin look like after the treatment?
The skin is red or pink for a few hours after the treatment. Makeup and normal skincare can be applied the following day. There is no peeling, so you can return to your routine immediately.
First results and required number of treatments
A series of 4 to 6 treatments is most commonly recommended, at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks. The exact number depends on the severity of the problem, skin type and response to therapy.
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment is mainly perceived as gentle warming or stinging, but without marked pain. Thanks to the cooling system, the treatment is tolerable and does not require local anaesthesia.
Is ClearSkin intended only for people with active acne?
No. Apart from active acne, ClearSkin is also used for post-acne lesions, uneven skin texture, enlarged pores and oily skin prone to congestion.
Is there a recovery period?
No. ClearSkin is a non-ablative treatment, so there is no peeling, wounding or interruption to everyday activities. Temporary mild redness may occur, which subsides during the same day.
Can ClearSkin be done during the summer?
Yes. Because it does not damage the surface layer of the skin, the treatment can also be performed during the summer period, with the mandatory use of a high SPF cream.
Does ClearSkin treat acne scars?
ClearSkin helps fade shallow scars and darker post-acne marks. Depressed scars are treated with a CO2 laser, subcision, or Morpheus8, which is discussed in more detail on the page acne scars.
Contraindications
ClearSkin laser treatment is not performed in cases of active skin infections, open wounds, significant irritation or the presence of an active herpes outbreak in the treated area. It is also not recommended for individuals undergoing therapy with medications that increase skin sensitivity to light. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as in cases of active inflammatory skin conditions, an individual medical examination and assessment are required before deciding on the treatment. The treatment is also temporarily postponed if strong chemical peels, retinoid therapy or other laser procedures have recently been performed on the same area.
Which laser is the right choice for your skin?
Answer a few short questions and find out which laser treatment best suits your skin type, concern and expectations. The result is based on indications, the degree of severity of the changes and recovery tolerance.
