Oily skin and acne
Acne develop in pores, where the sebaceous glands open onto the surface of the skin. When the skin produces more sebum than it needs, and dead cells do not shed in time, the pores become blocked. In such an environment, bacteria multiply more easily, so blackheads develop into red, painful spots.
Therefore, acne-prone skin benefits most from an approach that tackles multiple causes at once. Blemiderm unblocks clogged pores, reduces excess sebum and calms inflammation, leaving the skin looking smoother and less shiny after a series of treatments.
The programme is intended for moderate acne. In cases of severe acne, with deep and painful nodules, the first step is a dermatological examination. Read more about how acne is treated on the page Acne treatment.
How Blemiderm works
What is Blemiderm?
Blemiderm is a professional anti-acne programme carried out in two consecutive phases during the same appointment. First, the application is pre-peel, an AHA and BHA acid solution that unclogs pores and removes the surface layer of dead cells. It also contains retinal and bakuchiol, ingredients that stimulate skin renewal.
This is followed by mask with acids, kaolin and sulphur. Kaolin absorbs excess sebum, sulphur has an antibacterial effect, and the active ingredients packaged in tiny carriers are delivered right to the pore itself. Thanks to this, the programme simultaneously targets oiliness, blocked pores and inflammation.
Who is it for?
Blemiderm is designed for oily and combination skin prone to acne, as well as moderate acne with blackheads and recurrent inflamed spots. It is also well suited for oily skin without active spots, where enlarged pores, shine and uneven texture are the main concerns.
In cases of severe acne with deep, painful nodules, a dermatological assessment is necessary before any peeling treatment. Acne scars require different methods, which we write more about on the page Acne scars.
What does the treatment look like?
The skin is first cleansed and prepared. Then the pre-peel is applied, and after a few minutes, the mask, which is left on for a maximum of 10 minutes. During this time, mild stinging or itching is possible. The doctor continuously monitors how the skin reacts and removes the mask earlier if the redness increases.
Finally, the peel is neutralised, a soothing mask and SPF 50+ sun protection are applied. The entire treatment takes about 30 minutes. The programme includes 3 treatments at 15-day intervals.
Post-treatment recovery and care
After the treatment, the skin may be redder and more sensitive, and mild peeling is also possible over the following days. As a rule, the skin settles down within 1 to 2 days, so everyday activities can be resumed immediately.
In the days following the treatment, the skin should be washed with a gentle cleanser and cared for with a light, non-comedogenic cream. Sun protection of SPF 50+ should be applied every morning. Skin that is peeling should not be picked off, and scrubs and stronger active products should only be reintroduced once approved by a doctor. If the redness or stinging intensifies instead of subsiding, you should contact a doctor.
When will the results be visible?
Changes develop gradually through a series of treatments: the skin is less shiny, pores are cleaner, and new inflammation is increasingly rare. The manufacturer plans the programme for about 3 months, so the overall effect is assessed at the follow-up appointment after the series is completed.
Acne are prone to returning, especially during periods of stress and hormonal changes. If they reappear after some time, the doctor assesses whether a new course of treatment is needed. Dark spots that sometimes remain after inflamed spots can also be treated separately, for example Melanostop peel.
Contraindications
Blemiderm is not performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in cases of active herpes, on wounded or irritated skin, in the event of an allergy to the ingredients of the preparation, and on sun-tanned skin. Before the treatment, you should state all the preparations you use on your skin and the therapy you are taking, so that the protocol can be adapted and excessive irritation avoided.

Have you got a question?
Frequently asked questions about the Blemiderm treatment
Is the Blemiderm treatment painful?
The treatment is performed without anaesthesia. While the mask is taking effect, most people feel a mild stinging or itching sensation, which stops when the mask is removed and the skin is neutralised. The doctor monitors the skin's reaction throughout the entire treatment and shortens the processing time if necessary.
Can Blemiderm be used alongside the treatment prescribed by the dermatologist?
Certainly. The manufacturer intends for Blemiderm to be combined with medically prescribed acne treatments, including antibiotic and hormonal therapies in pill or cream form. Before treatment, please disclose everything you are using so that your doctor can coordinate the protocol and avoid excessive skin irritation.
What aftercare is recommended following the treatment?
In addition to the treatments at the polyclinic, the manufacturer also recommends daily home care throughout the entire programme. This is a gentle cleansing foam for morning and evening use, and from the first or second day after the treatment, once the skin has calmed down, a night gel-cream containing azelaic acid and retinol. During the day, a light, non-comedogenic moisturiser and SPF 50+ sun protection for oily skin are used. The doctor will advise during your consultation which of these are suitable for your skin.
Is Blemiderm performed in the summer?
The manufacturer recommends carrying out the programme during a period when sun exposure is low. Therefore, autumn and winter are the best time for the complete cycle of around 3 months. During the programme and afterwards, daily sun protection is compulsory.
How does Blemiderm differ from a traditional chemical peel?
Traditional peels are generally based on a single acid and a single application. Blemiderm is a program of 3 treatments, each consisting of two phases: a pore-clearing peel and a mask that absorbs excess sebum and soothes inflammation. You can view our other peels, ranging from glycolic and salicylic to TCA, on the page Chemical face peels.
