SkinPen and polynucleotides can be combined according to the skin assessment. Find out how the number of sessions, expectations and recovery plan are determined individually.
At the Imedic Polyclinic we combine SkinPen microneedling and polynucleotides when a skin assessment shows that this approach suits the patient's needs. Each of these treatments can also be considered independently. The choice depends on the skin condition, the goal of the treatment, and previous procedures.
SkinPen: microneedling and skin rejuvenation
SkinPen uses sterile, single-use needles and attachments. Controlled punctures trigger the skin's natural healing response. Microneedling is used for certain skin texture issues, including acne scars, subject to a prior assessment of whether the individual is a suitable candidate.

Polynucleotides and skin quality
Polynucleotides are used in treatments aimed at skin quality. The choice of product and the method of its application are determined by a physician according to the indication and the manufacturer's instructions. The goals and expectations differ from treatments that primarily replace volume.
Combining procedures is not automatically necessary for every patient. During the consultation, it is assessed what can be achieved with a single treatment and whether there is a reason to combine them.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions is assessed individually. There is no one-size-fits-all schedule: the plan depends on the condition of the skin, the problem being treated, the reaction to previous treatments and the desired goal. The doctor determines the intervals between visits and assesses at follow-up appointments whether the plan needs to be adjusted.
Results and recovery
Changes in skin quality and texture develop gradually. The extent and timing of results vary from person to person; it is not possible to guarantee a specific degree of improvement in advance. In acne scars The plan also depends on the type and depth of the scars.
After microneedling, redness, sensitivity, tightness or dryness of the skin may occur. Recovery time depends on the intensity of the treatment and individual reaction. During your consultation, you will receive instructions on aftercare, sun protection and returning to normal activities. You should not assume in advance that combination treatments will always shorten recovery time.
Is the combination the right choice for you?
Before the decision, it is necessary to assess the skin and discuss the medical history, medication, previous treatments and expectations. Active acne and other skin conditions require a special assessment before planning the procedure. An individual plan is agreed upon during the consultation, and expected reactions and limitations are explained.
If you are planning an important event, tell your doctor the date so that there is enough time for recovery and monitoring of the results.

Answers to frequently asked questions
Is the treatment painful?
Thanks to the high precision of the SkinPen device and the speed of the needle action, discomfort is kept to a minimum. A local anaesthetic cream is applied before the procedure itself, making the treatment almost painless for most patients - only a mild stinging or vibration is felt on certain areas of the face.
How long will I be red for after the procedure?
The duration of the redness varies from person to person and depends on the intensity of the treatment and the skin's reaction. It can last for several days. The doctor will explain the expected recovery and aftercare; the combination of treatments does not guarantee a shorter duration of redness.
How many SkinPen treatments are needed for a visible change in skin texture?
The number of sessions is assessed individually, according to the condition of the skin, the problem being treated, and the reaction to previous treatments. The doctor determines the intervals between visits and adjusts the plan during follow-ups. There is no set number of treatments for everyone.
Do polynucleotides add volume?
No. Polynucleotides are not hyaluronic acid fillers; they do not have the ability to add volume or change your natural contours. Their role is biostimulation – they simply “remind” your skin to produce its own collagen, restoring the firmness and healthy appearance it once had.
When can I start using makeup after the treatment?
It is recommended that the skin rests for at least 24 hours after the treatment so that the micro-channels close completely. After this period, you can return to your usual routine and make-up, with mandatory use of a cream with a high protection factor (SPF 50).
